   I don't think we should get fancy... this pass should be strictly    hole-closing, not clib expansion. If we get sidetracked, we are    going to wind up modifying every program in the source tree.    The phrase 'if it aint broke, don't fix it!' comes to mind :-)

   It will be easier to verify fixes if they are self contained and    do not rely on new library functions. And it will probably be    easier on the rest of the community as well... we need to maintain    backwards compatibility with the shared libraries at the very    least.
