I see that it's definitely a problem, though I don't think you'll have to wait quite so long as all that to see -current fixed enough to run again.

Peter Wemm is apparently running a completely -current system again, kernel and all, so at least the core compilation issues are taken care of at this point. After he's finished merging the last of userland (which should be pretty soon, I'd expect), the code should be more than fit for auditing. I don't see the # of changes occuring to the L2 stuff at post-merge time being significant enough to make it unauditable.

Yes, I think so too. A chief auditor can only keep things more or less together, while having each subtree have its own boss at least assures that someone will be in charge of a much more manageable group of people and hopefully making sure that all the right things happen in their section.

Yes, it's interesting how quickly you took to the role. I'd say you must have a *natural talent* for it and you should jump to volunteer for any and all future management tasks so that you can properly develop and refine this latent talent of yours. :-) :-)
