Possibly dumb question, but is your /etc/exports file configured properly to allow access from the machines you're trying to mount the nfs share on? if you don't have dns on site then you will have to put entries in /etc/hosts if you wish to use names rather than ip's in the exports file.

If nothing there is the problem, then perhapps send any error messages you get when trying to mount both from the server and from the machine trying to request the resource.
