A typical './configure', 'make', 'make install' produces binary files that are not executable on my Sun Ultra 10.

SunOS multiple 5.6 Generic_105181-05 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraSPARC-IIi-Engine

gcc version 2.95.1 19990816 (release)

[root@multiple httpd-2.0.36]# /usr/local/apache2/bin/httpd
bash: /usr/local/apache2/bin/httpd: cannot execute binary file

[root@multiple /root]# file /usr/local/apache2/bin/httpd
/usr/local/apache2/bin/httpd: ELF 32-bit MSB executable SPARC Version 1, dynamically linked, not stripped

[root@multiple httpd-2.0.36]# ldd /usr/local/apache2/bin/httpd
ldd: /usr/local/apache2/bin/httpd: execution failed /usr/local/apache2/bin/httpd: Exec format error
