  Sorry. 8^) I've actually been on gummint jobs where any function > 300   lines needed written dispensation to be coded, and modules were limited   to about 600 lines. That has always seemed reasonable, ever since, but   it's just a personal problem. 8^)

300 lines? Sigh... I just checked some of the functions from the Shambhala code which I originally wrote which are so long that they really embarass me --- directory_walk, cgi_handler, spawn_child, and output_directories to be specific. Only the first of these exceeds 150 lines, and that not by much.
