Cool! I await with baited breath :) In the mean time, while I am all fired up with ideas, I'm going to try to put together a design for a generic mod_cache based on HTTP/1.1 caching as I posted to the new-httpd list. What the design will cover mainly is the decision on what should be cached, and what should be served from the cache. The mod_file_cache can then be bolted on the backend of this, which will handle the actual storage of cached data.
