All I've done is switch on the forward proxy using ProxyRequest on and configured my browser to use it for everything on localhost.

Akamai'sed sites like http://www.apple.com and http://www.nasdaq.com were all broken, the downloads would either not come through at all, or partially download, leaving broken images all over the place.
