I'd be happy to do whatever is needed to help with 1.3 (if the patches do seem appropriate).

For 2.0, it does look to me like the filter system in general, and the mod_headers changes in particular, make any alterations to mod_proxy unnecessary. (Which is as it should be, since my changes really are about headers and not about proxying/caching proper.)
