PPPoE/DSL/Airport

I'm about to take the plunge into DSL. I think I'll need a PPPoE software app. to run it on my PowerComputing machine (OS9.1). I already have an Ethernet PCI card installed and use it to interface with my iBook.
A lot of this information is so far over my head, that I feel like Voyager doing a celestial search.
Question #1: Can anyone supply info on setting up a DSL client with Airport. I sure don't want to lose my wireless freedom because of an Ethernet tether.
Question #2: it appears that MacPoET is the choice for my PCPB unit, but some of these threads seem distressing regarding its installation and use.
