I was speaking more of the ability to have a multimedia server that you pay extra to, to get your userid and password on that radius table and you log directly in to it via the PPPoE client.

Actually, PPPoE is problematic for multimedia distribution, because it doesn't support multicasting. If you want to distribute a movie to PPPoE clients, you have to unicast a copy to each client, even if they are on the same Ethernet segment.

There was a proposal to add multicasting to PPPoE, but it was pretty roundly criticized and didn't get anywhere.
