pppd pppoe ipsec and holdoff option

I guess this might be the right place to post my question, thought I've seen similar unansweared questions in the archives... My home gateway is a GNU/Linux sid sparc system, with a 2.4.19 kernel. I use FreeS/WAN 1.98b with x509 patch, rp-pppoe 3.5 and pppd 2.4.1 pppd is configured with options persist and holdoff 10, and I have ip-up and ip-down scripts starting/stopping ipsec. Unfortunely, my provider send PADT packets after 1440 minutes, thus stopping pppoe. It seems that in this case (and not for instance when I got LCP timeouts), pppd don't wait for the specified holdoff delay but automatically restart pppoe. Problem is that ipsec modules are still loaded, as it takes 3 sec to unload ipsec but only 1 sec to restart pppoe and get the link. Then, pppd can't assign default gateway to the BAS and everything f*$£ up... :\ Has any of you encountered such problem and by any chance found a clean solution? I guess there might be a better solution than setting a cron job to stop ipsec then pppd just before 1440 min...
