1492 is the MTU. 1500 is for straight Ethernet not PPPoE.

Subject: Access Concentrators and MTU.

Hi,

Do hardware Access Concentrators (such as Redback and Cisco) support MTU of 1500 bytes for PPPoE sessions?

I understand that the standard (RFC-2516) specifies an MTU of 1492 (because of the encapsulation overhead of 8bytes).

Thanks.
