[Clamav-users] Everything gets marked as a virus

I'm using MailScanner / SpamAssassin / Sendmail /ClamAV .09.3

This weekend my MailScanner started acting up. I?ve gone through everything that I could think of and I ran into a lot of brick walls along the way. In the end I?ve got the problem narrowed down to clamav.

If I disable clamav in the MailScanner.conf, the system works as normal. If I enable ClamAV it will slow down to a crawl and every message gets marked as a virus. This is because the virus scanner is timing out. My timeout is set for the default 5 mins so there is no way that every single email should be timing out. The MailScanner maillog shows the following:

  Commercial scanner ClamAV timed out!
MailScanner[28984]: ClamAV: Failed to complete, timed out

I?ve tried re-installing ClamAV .90.3 but this didn?t change anything. Does anyone have any clues as to why this would happen?
