While this may not directly answer your question, I am running the
update script for the addons at 17 minutes past the hour. And run
freshclam at 21 minutes past the hour.(I don't update the addons every
hour...)
But I also see in /var/log/messages, clamd doing a selfcheck on the
databases every 30 minutes.
