Bug#462982: apache2-mpm-event is broken in etch on all architectures except amd64

From: Stefan Fritsch <sf(at)sfritsch.de>
Date: Mon Jan 28 2008 - 13:25:41 EST

Package: apache2-mpm-event
Version: 2.2.3-4+etch3
Severity: grave
Tags: wontfix

The event MPM is broken in Debian Etch. The following message appears in the error.log:

[crit] (70023)This function has not been implemented on this platform: Couldn't create a Thread Safe Pollset. Is it supported on your platform? Pre-configuration failed

In order to be backwards compatible with 2.4 kernels, apr in Etch is compiled without support for epoll(), except on the amd64 architecture.

Workarounds:

  1. use apache2-mpm-worker or
  2. get the apr source package from Debian testing and recompile it under Debian etch. Install the resulting libapr1 package.

If there is demand, I can provide a recompiled apr for etch on backports.org.
