This is clearly a kernel issue and not an installer issue so I've moved it to linux-2.6 package.

Would be nice to verify if 2.6.21 or 2.6.22-rc6 doesn't solve your problem. It could has been solve during last releases. If 2.6.21 (current sid kernel package) doesn't work, you can try the 2.6.22-rc6 using the following line as repository:

deb http://kernel-archive.buildserver.net/debian-kernel trunk main

This one is built using the svn snapshot from Debian Kernel Team[1]
