Bug#435212: marked as done ((no subject))
From: Debian Bug Tracking System <owner(at)bugs.debian.org>
Date: Tue Jul 31 2007 - 12:33:07 EDT
This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) attached mail follows: Package: installation-reports Boot method: <How did you boot the installer? CD? floppy? network?> Image version: http://people.debian.org/~joeyh/d-i/images/daily/floppy/ Date: 2007-09-10, shortly after midnight UTC.
Machine: Dell server, older generation
Output of lspci -nn and lspci -vnn:
Base System Installation Checklist:
Initial boot: [O] Detect network card: [O] Configure network: [O] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [O] Detect hard drives: [O] Partition hard drives: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Clock/timezone setup: [ ] User/password setup: [ ] Install tasks: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Overall install: [ ] Comments/Problems: This is not a bug in the software, but a confusing behaviour. In the main menu, detect disks leads to partitioning disks. http://raneb.openlib.org/~krichel/f1.jpg I don't want to change partitioning. I don't want to format anything. In fact, I am only installing the system to fix some errors in the C library locations. I just want to make /dev/hda1 to be the root file system. If I select IDE1, I get http://raneb.openlib.org/~krichel/f2.jpg and on yes http://raneb.openlib.org/~krichel/f3.jpg which I don't want. I have forgetten what happened when selecting "no", but it not lead to joy either. I am working on this sittnig in Australia and the machine is being handled by my friends in NYC. If I proceed to "Finish partitioning", I am getting http://raneb.openlib.org/~krichel/f5.jpg It would be useful to have an item "mount already existing file system" as earlier versions of the installer had. I think the current "help on partitioning" is rather vague. If you send me the text, I can try to improve. attached mail follows:
