k3b: find: /dev/.static: Permission denied

Recently I tried burning a CD for the first time in a while. K3B doesn't seem to work at the moment. Nothing is shown in the GUI, it gets stuck at 0%, but the stderr shows me this:

find: /dev/.static: Permission denied
QGDict::hashKeyString: Invalid null key
QGDict::hashKeyString: Invalid null key
k3b: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Unknown protocol ''.

using K3B 0.12.17 (Using KDE 3.5.7), debian testing.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Any idea how to fix this? I tried upgrading to lenny (testing) and got the same problem.
