sound muted by kmix after upgrading ALSA

Hi, see http://bugs.debian.org for bug #448263: alsa-source: artsd fails to start with ALSA 1.0.15 and sound has to be unmuted in kde.

Apart from manually removing startup files for kmix, is there any way to avoid this problem?
