I use Etch on an ibook G4. All the functions key works, either for sound, light or local menu. but I have installed for the pbbuttond and the pbbuton-gnome programs. And in the Desktop/configuration/session I have added the pbbutton-gnome program, in order that it starts when I open a cession.
