Do you have "stable" installed? Not problem with my T61 using "unstable/experimental" and a 2.6.24 kernel. You should probably consider moving to "testing" or "unstable" I think...

This is probably not related to your problem but I can switch on/off headphone and/or speakers outputs independently. It took me a while to notice this and that solved a lot of my sound issues ;) Actually, all of them :D
