The simplest fix to this problem is to just grab the 2.6.23 kernel from sid/unstable. I am running Lenny on a T61p and have not had any problems so far. Also, the intel wireless drivers (if you have thw 4965AGN card) are included with the 2.6.23 kernel so you don't have build your own module.
