It does come with a warranty, at least in Germany/Europe. Everything you *pay* for has by law two years of warranty. The problem is that almost no one knows that they have this warranty on software.

If people encounter problems, it is often difficult to fix them, but for the average M$ user it is even more difficult - - to prove that it actually is a bug in the software. - - to ask the shop for a fix.

(Legally the buyer has a contract with the seller of the product, so technically the warranty is issued by the shop, not by the producer of the software. This puts companies like microsoft in the convenient situation of taking all their money for the sale without having to deal with problems later on.)
