Bug#458336: upgrade-reports: XFCE refuses to initialize GTK+, restarts X

From: Maciej Habant <lays25(at)o2.pl>
Date: Sun Dec 30 2007 - 08:45:10 EST

Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: important

After the last update which included sudo and after a reboot XFCE restarts X just after logging in with an error saying "Refusing to initialize GTK+" and "(xfdesktop:5431): CRITICAL **: settings_register_callback: assertion `cb && user_data && mcs_client' failed". However, I can login succesfully with a freshly-created user. I tried different chmods on .gnome and .gnome2 directories, no effect. Even if I ignore the box and don't click anything, XFCE renders almost every function unusable.
