They why was there a big flap when Unisys restricted use of GIF?
You might have a look here http://lpf.ai.mit.edu/Patents/Gif/Gif.html
All patents require full disclosure, but disclosure does not
mean that use of an invention is unrestricted.

Which does not mean that the use is unrestricted, AFAIK.

You can see the contents of a package by:
$ dpkg -L package-name
I often do this and grep or look for files in bin/, etc/, man/, etc.
directories to get a "jump-start" on what a package contains. All packages
should put a directory under /usr/share/bin/ containing README files, changelogs,
sometimes examples and other documentation.

Make sure the firmware-ipw3945 and ipw3945d packages are installed as well.
If you use GNOME then install network-manager-gnome. This is the easiest way
to connect and should work. There is a document on the Ubuntu wiki (!) that
works in Debian as well:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WPAHowTo
I would use WPA if I were you, WEP is broken and easily cracked. Hope this
helps,

Hello, I have a server running under Debian etch. I need to install kolab, but

apt-get install kolab-resource-handlers

apt-get install libapache2-mod-php4

So I can't use horde and Kolab!
Is there any way of doing it? Or it's a developers job?

Hi Folks!
Recently i've installed NeroLinux to taste the linux version, at that moment
I didn't get the key, passed a few days when I execute NeroLinux this show me
a alert box that "this program has expired", so I delete the $HOME/.nero folder,
reinstalled nero but this won't work, I couldn' imagine WHERE nerolinux store this
kind of information to detect the amount of time used and then show this message and exit, any help?
NOTE: yeah, I know, it's privative.

I added this to .Xresources:
Firefox-bin.geometry: 800x977+0+0
and it was ignored. As judged by ls -lu, the file isn't accessed when I
bring up a firefox window. I also shut down X, logged off, logged in, and
started X. That didn't fix it either.
I guess if this is the most annoying problem I have I won't complain.
Thanks for the suggestions.

It probably is through the chain of dependencies somehow pecular to
the original poster's installation.

But that is secpanel not cpanel. Try this one instead.
http://packages.debian.org/oldstable/x11/cpanel
I just tried a test installation of cpanel on my oldstable Sarge
machine (cpanel is only available in Sarge) and I did not see it
wanting to removing my installed postfix. Therefore I can't recreate
the problem.

That doesn't effect it. It changes the position, but even when the
monitors were swapped (as in left for right), it didn't change the
display numbers.
I don't mean first as in leftmost, I mean as in the display number,
since it seems certain things always come up on monitor #1.
Thanks anyway, though.

Unisys held a patent covering LZW compression. Unisys did not create
the GIF format. The GIF format was created by CompuServe. Neither
did Unisys write the 'compress' program. But both implemented an
algorithm considered to be an implementation of lzw compression and
therefore both were blocked by the Unisys patent until it expired.
Neither GIF nor compress authors were aware of the patent when they
created their implementations.
AFAICT the last lzw patent has expired. At this time there is no
restriction on using either gif or compress however IANAL.

just out of curiousity, which monitor is the live one when the machine
boots?
also, doesn't mouse position affect this? It certainly does in my
dual-head rig. Whichever screen had the mouse gets the window except
for some odd things (xfce config windows in particular like to show up
in the left monitor no matter what, but that could be an artifact of
xinerama, I suppose). The xscreensaver unlock dialog is always
interesting...

1. QEMU is slow.
2. If you install kqemu, QEMU will run faster. Make sure to "modprobe kqemu
major=0" first. QEMU will use kqemu automatically if it is installed. Run QEMU
from a terminal window and you will get a message if it is unable to find kqemu.
3. If you run QEMU with the "-kernel-kqemu" option it will run even faster.
Unfortunately, due to a bug [1] in the Debian qemu packages, kqemu does not work
with stock Debian qemu packages. In order to use kqemu, you have to either build
your own packages of qemu out of the upstream sources ("not" the Debian
sources), or use the precompiled binaries offered by upstream on qemu.org.
Alternatively, install Daniel Baumann's deb package [2] instead of the official
QEMU package.
I believe that kqemu reduces processor load. This may be the reason for your
different experience.
So... Not off-topic after all. :)

The nvidia driver always seems to want to make the CRT primary monitor unle=

I think this is a twinview problem with the dead space when I use as I alwa=

have the two separate X screens I get my native 1680x1050 on the DFP and=20
whatever resolution I want on the CRT no dead space you might want to give=

on the CRT so I can use it never used to do that with dual CRT different=20

Both. When KDE is loading, the wallpaper comes up on the widescreen and
the loading screen comes up on the 3x4 monitor.

Not at all.

I have my panel on only the widescreen, so most of the time I open a
window, it's from a menu or a program already on the widescreen and
they tend to open up there, but some dialog boxes come up on the other
one.
One bit of interesting trivia. When I first set it up, the screensaver
showed up on the widescreen with the other going blank. Now it covers
both screens, but the center is not far from the left side of the
widescreen. I switch screensavers and now any of the ones that make it
look like you're racing through a tube or anything like that don't work
visually because the path you're supposedly following is cut up between
the monitors.
