Maybe just invalid info in BIOS. I would trust linux here.
Or maybe is that onboard L3 cache...

Forgive me my poor English, for my native language is not English.
You may use unix2dos to trasnfer the signal of line end from linux to
MS Windows.
The signal under linux is diffrent from that under Windows.
In Debian, you can simply use the command:
apt-get install tofrodos
to have the two commands: dos2unix and unix2dos

Different people prefer different presentations. I read EVERYTHING I
could find on LaTeX (including the not-so-short-introduction), but I
still could not put the pieces together. I even purchased and read a
spiral-bound copy of Knuth's "The TeX Book". Ironically, I had run
across a copy of Kopka & Daly a year or more previously, but I had
passed it up. Not until I purchased and Kopka & Daly did I begin to
understand LaTeX as a system and develop proficiency with it. Kopka &
Daly did for me what all the other books and manuals failed to do.

Hi,
Anybody understand the relation between these 2?
Mondo insists on /etc/grub.conf and that is what you get to edit on a
restore from CD.
But it seems that Debian only uses /boot/grub/menu.lst and that is what
update-grub updates.
Anybody?

Python can also be used in a handy and compact form ....

Yes, that=B4s right but if you have to perform many operations maybe the
"echo" + "bc" form is quite faster:

I saw /etc/grub.conf once (maybe under Ubuntu). It seems that
/etc/grub.conf is just a link of /boot/grub/menu.lst or
/boot/grub/grub.conf.

Other distributions store it here; notably Fedora.

I think a symlink will have the desired effect, but I am not sure.

Call it a bug in Debian's Mondo package. They should have patched it to
work with the correct file.

>=20
But if you make it a link you get an infinite loop when using the mondo=20
restore CD: it has to be a regular file.

I used mkfontscale and also mkfontdir. fonts.dir and fonts.scale were created.
"xset fp+ /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-barcod25" and "xset fp rehash"
gave no error and it seems that they have worked (I can see the font
with xlsfonts), but xpdf, for example, still doesn't display the
barcode font correctly on the PDF.
Do you know something else that I can try?
Thank you very much!

Hi,
I wanted to install Pidgin on my new Debian Etch setup. I found that the
package was only available in the unstable repository, so I added that to my
sources.list and installed it. Some other packages (dependencies I guess)
also got installed.
After I did that and restarted X, it seems like the SVG support broke in
gnome. I can not use SVG backgrounds for example, and some icons don't seem
to work.
I'm now wondering:
- Can I revert what I did?
- Can I see what packages on my system comes from the unstable repository?
- Can I install a package from the unstable repository, but all its
dependencies from the main repository? (Given that the dependencies exist
there)
Thanks.

Hi,<br><br>I wanted to install Pidgin on my new Debian Etch setup. I found that the package was only available in the unstable repository, so I added that to my sources.list and installed it. Some other packages (dependencies I guess) also got installed.

Hi!
I am running lenny, and I would like to install openoffice.org-2.2. The
version in lenny is 2.0. In my etch machines, I used the oo-2.2 from
backports.org. How can I install openoffice.org-2.2 in lenny?
Thanks in advance
Marcelo

Thanks, yes: I have read that, more than once. It is a good
introduction, but IMHO no more than that.

Yes, I had spotted that it was installed on mine too. texdoctk was new
to me, though. I had to install perl-tk and tetex-doc, but after that,
--wow! There is a lot of additional information there!
Thanks Douglas

Hello,
accedently I gave a link to the german side of Open Office, but you should
find an english version or other languages there, too.
