Hi all,
I am having a stable Debian distribution with GNOME on MIPS24KF (mipsel).
When I run several applications after a while (3-4 hours not deterministic) my applications crashes.
My dmesg shows the following:

Are the errors with the server reported through synaptic or when you try to start the server? Have you tried to resolve the dependancies with synaptic? And could you also post the error messages you get?

Thx,

_I_ would probably reinstall just to be sure I had a pure Debian system, bu= t if=20
it was someone else's system and they wanted to try upgrading, I would try = it!

Back up stuff (do whether upgrading or reinstalling, of course!). I would= =20
probably just get /etc and /home.

I find aptitude to be quite helpful with upgrading, especially with=20 complications like this:
Fix sources.list to what you want, run 'aptitude update', and run 'aptitude= =20
keep-all'. Set all unofficial packages to automatically installed (upperca= se=20
"M"), and then all dependencies/libraries. For the latter, I would open a = flat=20
package list, limiting the displayed packages to those that are installed b= ut=20
not auto-installed (using "~i!~M"). Then mark anything there that you don'= t=20
explicitly want installed as auto-installed. Aptitude should delete a bunc= h of=20
unnecessary stuff. Don't upgrade anything yet, just get rid of junk. Be s= ure=20
to preview everything before applying. Next start upgrading, and do just s= mall=20
chunks of packages at a time. (This helps me keep things straight when usi= ng=20
aptitude.) If you have to use the dependency resolver, remember the reject= =20
option ("r").

Hope this helps.

Ok, i've tried fixing my interfaces file and using ifup, and also changing ssid=any or ssid="any" in my wpa_supplicant.conf file. I've appended the relevant output below. I suspect the problem might be a hidden ssid, as Andrew suggested. When I use WinXP on this same laptop, I get connected automatically to ssid SMU_PUBLIC. However, this ssid does not show up when I run iwlist ath0 scanning (output pasted below).

I will look into impriv, as suggested by the other Adrian. Any other suggestions?

Tyler

I use mutt and I have no problem reading html-based email with mutt using w3m or similar to translate the email to text. Maybe you filter html email as spam?

It's a home PC so=20 it's just an inconvenience. I just wondered if it is a bug or my fault.=20 OK, I'll wait. Thanks! Michal R.
