Actually I think the problem is that I'm trying to initialize the framebuffer from within Screen; Is there any way to pass the permissions to Screen?

Greetings all.

I'm about to attempt configuring my first ever file server. It's based on an old HP E200 with three equally old SATA drives.

I've done package searches on package descriptions and got a plethora of package names that may or may not have application to the situation.

Has anybody got a recommendation for a gui that would help a new user set up and allocate file/group permissions?

It will have to interface with window machines also. Thanks for any recommendations.
Regards,

David.

Did you look at any of those links? The first 3 are either server motherboards or miniITX (no AGP slot).

The rest are online stores that look questionable to me. I have no experience with geekshoponline or itrshop, but I did notice that even though Google lists them as selling the product you can not find it on their websites by following the categories or other links. And when you follow Google's link to that product, the pictures won't load and there i= s
almost zero product details.

Thanks for trying,
Jacob

I'm surprised. But then Wikipedia tells me that it's aka Socket 462, so it's lasted longer than I thought it did.

Unless there's some specific Windows-only app that she *needs*, you can bamboozle her and get away with it. After all, unless a power spike burns out the circuits, a deap drive looks the same as a working drive.

Ah. I doubt it, since /screen/ probably does squirrelly stuff.

I am trying to install Mediawiki1.1.11xxx from testing. There seems to be NO installation instructions at all. In the stable version there was enough to get started, however the current testing version is way differtent as far as the way it seems to be set up. Much more like apache2 maybe. Are there any doc anywhere? YThere is not even a readme in the main dirs or /etc/mediawiki/

Tips please anyone.
Thanks!

OK, I got bitten and just checked my /etc/apt/sources.list, and noticed all my debian references were to ftp.debian.org. I beg penance. So I switched them all to ftp.us.debian.org, and did a "sudo aptitude update" yet I am getting a "segmentation fault" as the last line of that output. dfox@m206-157:~$ sudo aptitude update Ign
