Do you need more help?X

hello folks,

i am trying to migrate from NIS setup to a ldap setup to achieve the following.

  1. LDAP server holds multiple NIS domain user information, nfs automount information associated with the nis domains.
  2. the user authentication via ssh is done against a kerberos server to provide one-time login support.=20
  3. the ldap server also checks with Microsoft AD directory to see if the user account has a corresponding account in AD. if it doesn't then it fails.

I am kind of stuck has to how to achieve b & c. I have read about padl migration tools for nis to ldap but beyond that i am lost.=20

I kind of figure that referral option ldap could probably be used to query AD. I am not sure. Would appreciate pointers to guides, hints, writeups of successful implementations .

thank you.
regards
John

Ah, so @LOCAL is loopback only ... TFM doesn't mention that.

For what purpose? I'm on dialup and use Debian no problem. If you have the stable DVD, and update DVD, what more do you want untill Lenny becomes stable? There aren't that many security updates that take more than a few minutes to download. Doug.

Not knowing what all you did, or exactly what type of scripts you're using, it's impossible to tell. I just know if you don't enable the correct modules for what you're doing no matter what's in your httpd.conf or your virtual server settings it just won't work. The correct combination of enabled modules and configuration settings is what works. You can tell which modules have been loaded, both dynamically and statically, by running, as root, "apache2 -D DUMP_MODULES".

Setting the DISPLAY option didn't do hit, but I did see the answer: mplayer has startup options in the man page not shown in the console 'mplayer --help' where I looked. -gui forces startup in GUI mode. Thanks ------------------- Andrew Malcolmson

Yes, the evolution-webcal is for a new version of evolution that is not yet available in testing yet. Accept the option offered by aptitude (to keep evolution) and wait for the upgraded evolution to become available for testing. Sjoerd

Hi, I had a similiar issue recently using obexftp and a Motorola V535. The problem turned out to be that I needed a passkey manager running during the authentication phase. The very ugly solution I contrived consisted into compiling the source of the passkey-agent included in /usr/share/doc/bluez-utils/examples, then running it like: passkey-agent 1234 <bluetooth phone address> the phone should accept in this case the bluetooth passkey, then test it with: obexftp -b <bluetooth phone address> -l Documentation is very scarce and the various guides/tutorial I checked are rather inconsistent, so I think there is a better solution, maybe someone can enlighten us about the use of the passkey-agent (and where to find an already compiled version). After some update I've spotted that users ceased to appear in my GDM list. First I thought it was due to error in theme (yes, I use the one which supports displaying of users in list). So I tried another one. But it didn't help. Then I tried to change settings in GDM. As default there is checked to use /etc/passwd as source of users to be displayed in list, so Instead I chose them manually. It still didn't help. Then I tried to switch to KDM. Same results either with enabled theme or disabled (in /etc/default/kdm.d/.... option to use theme set to false). Logging in works well. I just have to write login instead of just selecting it with mouse click. I'm not the only one using my PC, so making it as simple as possible s viable. Please CC me on replies, I am not subscribed to the list Thank you very much for any help Vit Pelcak

apt-file update tried to download some huge Contents.gz files, so I purged apt-file. If diffs were produced of Contents.gz files so that subsequent "apt-file update" runs were relatively brief, it would be ok, but downloading huge Contents.gz files every time one runs "apt-file update" seems inefficient and is more than what my internet connection can stand. To find file names in standard Debian packages, one can do a search on packages.debian.org. What I'd like to be able to do is specify some non-standard repositories (eg www.debian-multimedia.org), and have apt-file download the Contents.gz files for those, and use packages.debian.org to search for files in standard Debian packages (main/contrib/non-free).
