You still have evolution 2-10-3, which solves the dependency-problems mentioned by aptitude, except the dependency problems for webcal. Accepting the offer (remove webcal, keep evolutions) seems the sane thing to do to me. I get the message you got earlier too when doing a dist-upgrade. Accepting the "keep everything the same for now" works for me.

and about .5 hour later my USB keyboard is unresposive too - I could maximize/restore windows using the mouse but 5 mins later and although the cursor will move nothing else is happening (can't go to cntl-alt-F1 and mouse won't resize windows or change focus)

logging in from another machine doesn't show up any errors in syslog and there's no excessive load and the USB mouse/keyboard are still listed under lsusb:

So, any thoughts before I reboot (or for next time it ends up in this state)???

Maybe this is obvious, but let me just rule it out first. In the kdm=20 configuration window, "Users" tab, there are several tools to select=20 which users should appear in the list at the prompt. Check there if=20 everything looks as it should.

        Cannot help about gdm, sorry.

Okay, I finally got the answer -- on a Mepis forum (respect to Warren and all of his users). Debian should really update the man page for debmirror. Anyway, this worked: gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys ADB11277 ; gpg --export ADB11277 | apt-key add - The man page suggested: gpg --keyserver keyring.debian.org --recv-keys <key ID> which, with inserting ADB11277 in the <key ID> space, did not work. Boot a different distro's live CD and see if it happens. If you have Windows on another partition, see if it happens with that. If you have another computer, see if the drive does the same thing in the other computer. If nothing else, see if there are any BIOS updates for your motherboard. Good luck.

If the bug is reported against testing, but not marked as fixed, it's probably still present in the unstable version. I think most of Amarok's problems stem from libxine. Xine hangs sometimes when it gets a stream or a file it doesn't like. Of course, it would be nice if Amarok could gracefully handle situations like this. In the future, Amarok2 will use GStreamer. Until then, use the latest versions of Amarok and libxine, and if it happens repeatedly, see if you can figure out with which streams and/or files.
