You probably need to change the font paths in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf; see here:

If you cannot figure out what to do then you can post the output of

awk '/Section "Files"/,/EndSection/' /etc/X11/xorg.conf

so that we can have a look at the relevant part of your configuration file.
