How to re-generate the info index?

From: <furue(at)hawaii.edu>

Hi Debian users,

It seems that some uninstallers didn't remove their info pages correctly. For example, I have the entries

  • Emacs: (emacs-20/emacs). [ . . . ]
  • Emacs: (emacs-21/emacs). [ . . . ]

both of which give error such as

Info file emacs-21/emacs does not exist

(Indeed they don't exist because I removed emacs21-common-non-dfsg and so on.)

So, my question is how one can clean this up.

Thanks,
Ryo
