You do not need this, although it might be easier than the method already available in vanilla epiphany.

You can achieve the desired behaviour by adding a bookmark containing a "%s" which will be filled with the entered string.

So to add a search for debian bugs just add the following bookmark:

    http://bugs.debian.org/%s
