okay, when you click on the *.changes file, it should be popping up a dialog asking what to do with the file: whether to open it with less or save the file. You can change the program used to open the file. The dialog says "You have chosen to open... What should iceweasel do with this file?" select "Open With", click the list box to the right, select "Other..." enter /usr/bin/firefox in the file picker and away you go.
