kde is by no means perfect. The last time I tried gnome, however, it was far worse.

Just one example: I still hate that all or most of the gnome applications I use (firefox and OO.o are the most prominent) continue to igonre my global setting of A4 paper

and use their own 'letter' default. They also have their own respective printer managers instead one default printer manager for all applications (kprinter for kde).
