/etc/timezone got lost

During one of the last upgrades of the package tzdata on testing (Lenny/Sid) the file /etc/timezone was deleted and not re-created. Has anyone else experienced this?
With the command
dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
/etc/timezone is restored.
