i am not quite sure what is going on, but my harddrive, managed by the libata + ata_piix drivers is randomly reinitialzing and after doing that no longer accessable for the kernel by its old name /dev/sda but /dev/sdb. this is indeed very strange, since it never has happend before. i am running etch with all updates that have gone out.

has anyone ever had a same problem - maybe in the last days, when a kernel update went out it must be after 2.6.18-4-686?
the machine is a dell inspiron 6000, if that also helps!

well, for any kind of help very thankful indeed!

regards curt

please cc me i am not subscribed! thanks
