I need to use acroread to enter data in forms only available as pdf files. ATM, acroread is the only software able to do this. The next version of evince (and the others too likely at some point) will be able to do this, but for now acroread is needed. There is no 64 bit version of acroread so I am very much looking forward to having that support in evince.. :)
