You're very welcome. I only hope that it helps you out.

Yes, you will have to create that file if you decide to go the udev
route. I wouldn't use any other already existing rules files, should
you be tempted to do that, just because it may mess up something in your
system udev setup. I also think the above 10-local.rules loads earlier
than those files, and this is what you want.

Okay, I think I can see what is causing you trouble here. Rather than
{serial}==... I believe you should have ATTRS{serial}==... I am
certainly no expert, and it has been a while since I messed about with
any udev rules as I am trying to cut back on my drinking ;-), but I
do think the entire label is necessary. That seems backed up by your
result of "command not found" for the {serial}... input. I believe you
could add the ATTRS and find it will then work.

If you type `ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid` in a terminal you should get back
a list of all your disks uuid symlinks. If you plugged in your camera
already, one of them should be something like CAMERA-UUID -> ../../sda1.
This is what you are looking for, and you put this symlink in your
fstab. Just use the format of UUID=CAMERA-UUID in place of /dev/sda1.
For example, mine is "UUID=3874-E1C0 /mnt/sansa vfat user,noauto 0 0"
rather than "/dev/sda1 /mnt/sansa ..." In the end, much less messy than
udev rules I think.
Hope you get it working.

/sbin/blkid will also tell you what a device's UUID is.

Hi,
I am trying to ween myself from Windows. A couple of months ago
I
installed Debian on my new amd64 box and I am generally quite impressed
by the amalgam. There are a few items that I have been unable to
address satisfactorily, however.
First, I am a programmer in one of my hobby lives. I love C and
C++
and I have installed the gcc and g++ packages on my new box. I have not
yet found a good integrated developer environment, however. About the
only thing good about Windows, in my opinion, is their Visual C++.
Second, I am an electrical engineer, so I would like to get
closer to
the hardware. In order to do so, it would be nice to find a tutorial
explaining the standard ways Linux implements plug and play, hardware
access permissions, and communication between hardware and applications.
Third, I would like to find a good book to teach me how to
accept and
to process mouse, keyboard, graphics tablet, etc. input and how to
generate and to operate the graphical windows used in Debian. I
understand that the Gnome and/or KDE interfaces are available and it
would be nice to know what the differences, similarities, and
compatibility issues are from the programmer's perspective. I think I
am using Gnome, so my first priority is programming for Gnome, but if I
can program for both, even better.
Any recommended literature and relevant references and/or urls
are
quite welcome and will be appreciated.

Now, I see ...
When I launch icedove with alltray, drag and drop fails, when I start
standalone, it works !
I don't know if I should post a bug again alltray.
I used alltray long time ago, perhaps my recently force-migration from gnome
to xfce was the reason about this issue
Any one with XFCE could start "alltray icedove" and tell me if drag and
drops works there ?
Thanks you!
PD: How do you configure icedove (icedove-traybiff?) to doesn't close when
you click on close button ?

For Gnome;
http://anjuta.sourceforge.net/downloads
For KDE;
http://trolltech.com/products/qt
I am assuming that you are on Debian so the Gnome or KDE development
packages are available to you and quite feature full.
I believe that the Eclipse suite;
http://www.eclipse.org/
with 'language IDE's' allows you to develop in C and C++ as well as
Java. In fact if you can get Java, the tools, and the Eclipse suite
installed and setup properly from either distribution specific packages
or generic binaries ( Sun tar.gz files), you'll learn a lot about Linux
along the way.

Books;
http://www.oreilly.com/
Debian provides copious amounts of documentation in .txt, .info, .html,
.pdf, .ps forms among others. Scan /usr/share/doc or do something like
$>man gcc
$>man info
$>info flex
A lot of docs are available as .html and thus viewable by your browser.
Hope this gets you started.

I would unpack those files into a Maildir and if you then have
duplicate emails you can remove them with fdupes.

no postrgesql process running.
the touch command exited successfully.
apt-get remove --purge postgresql and apt-get install postgresql.
end up the same problem.
i suspect the installer script problem. but i am not sure.

I recently installed sshfs on this etch system using aptitude install sshfs. I am having the same problem you listed above. However, I can't seem to find /dev/fuse.
amit@debian:~$ ls -l /dev/fuse
ls: /dev/fuse: No such file or directory
Even a sudo modprobe fuse doesn't result in anything.
Any ideas?

i have some clue on this problem. i think the installer script problem.
after fail to use debian package. i tried to install using tar ball files
(source code)
downloaded from postgresql.org website.
when i compile the file i get the error
configure: error: readline library not found
If you have readline already installed, see config.log for details on the
failure. It is possible the compiler isn't looking in the proper directory.
Use --without-readline to disable readline support.
i did have libreadline5 installed. but actually i need the package
libreadline-dev
install in order to compile. i am trying. i will tell you if i manage to
install postgresql
later.. :p
