Yes they are, one of them is my home machine, the other one is Internet gateway at work. I use 192.168.124.* address block for dialup, that's why
my public addresses are reserved. Without ipsec everything works fine.

If yoi say you managed to create ipsec communication through ppp device I
just will try it once again. Maybe it's a problem related to my firewall or IP masq setup: the box in the office actually has 3 interfaces (ethernet
internal, ethernet public and ppp) and acts as Internet router. More over,
192.168.124.* addresses *are* masqueraded - but not when they're routed through ppp interface.
