| Is there any way to use Linux with ipsec? My employer is using a
| Contivity Extranet Switch 4000 to provide a VPN for remote access.
| Naturally the software Baynet provides only works on NT/9X. I would
| like to use this system instead of the dial back to remote log in to
| work.

The LINUX FreeS/WAN project is working on IPsec for LINUX. There is also a mailing list. I hope that a new and better beta (.91) will be released this week or perhaps next week.

To learn about the project and to get distributions, have a look at the web pages (they are different):

http://ww.xs4all.nl/~/freeswan

http://www.cygnus.com/~gnu/swan.html

The best way to connect with the developers (including me) is through the linux-ipsec mailing list. Please let us know how it goes -- interoperation is something we wish to support.

Since you appear to be in the US, we can't accept code from you -- your country's export laws :-(

Good luck!
