No, not at all. The purpose of having a (documented!) ASCII configuration file is so that people with special needs can "roll their own". That in no way precludes having novice-friendly interfaces which make it easier for people *without* special needs to get the simple cases right. The guys with the special requirements can be assumed to be knowledgeable enough, given basic docs, that they don't make trivial syntax errors (or that if they do, they can figure the problem out themselves).
