Well all I can say is that I took the version I had been building on my Alpha, tared it up, untared it on an Intel box, and the gmp libraries were NOT reconfigured by simply typing "make" in the top freeswan directory. I don't even think they were "./configured" after a make clean ...

I'll have a closer look when I do a test build of my alpha-ed code on an intel box.
