I'll definitely agree that privacy is a bigger issue.

However, you mentioned earlier that BSD-copyrighted code (the one witht he advertisement clause) won't make it into the Linux kernel. The reverse is also true for GPL'ed code and BSD kernels (OpenBSD at least). So (unfortunately) I don't think having one true package is realistic.

On the other hand, there's nothing to stop us from cooperating (as we've done rather well so far) in having two or more packages of good quality for the different free OSes. As it is, I spend (or spent, until recently) more time helping (answering questions) the FreeS/WAN project people than working on the OpenBSD IPsec (Niels Provos is doing an excellent job, and I can't work on the code whilst in the US).
