The system header files apparently got shaken up somewhat between 4.2 and 5.0, and this is a fruitful source of incompatibilities. Some of the FreeS/WAN stuff has been tried on 5.0 and has acquired #ifdefs to handle the differences; some of it hasn't. It's not at all surprising that you've had trouble, because this is "outside the specs" until such time as we update our development environments (which is not a trivial task for code that has close ties to the kernel).

That's correct, alas. Pluto has been experimentally compiled on 5.0, which is why that flag is available. The Klips utilities haven't been. If you sort out what needs to be done, by all means report the details; we'll have to do it eventually.
