How many people who are using 4.2 are using whichever kernel it originally shipped with, and how many have upgraded their kernels? If you're trying to reach an early-adopter kernel-hacker market, your users will probably be upgrading to 5.x soon enough anyway, while the people who have 4.2 may be less likely to have upgraded it to 2.0.33 (so they'd have to upgrade to use FreeS/WAN anyway) or may have already upgraded to 2.1.x (would they have to downgrade?)

In my case, I've got a new machine I'm trying to fire up with RedHat 5.0 (bought the disks shortly before 5.1 came out :-) and I need a relatively new version just for the convenience of getting AGP video drivers.
