The question to ask here is "why is atoul.c being compiled with __KERNEL__, since it's not part of the kernel subset of the library?". Are you sure your lib/Makefile is up to date? (It has changed *extensively*.) In fact, the above doesn't look like you're using lib/Makefile at all... Please don't try to compile the library stuff yourself; use the library's Makefile, which knows how to build the kernel library.
