I've never been a big fan of long options myself, but if we are going to
do them, we should do them all the way. At the very least, the short
options should be all capital letters, or something like that, so that a
typo in a long option doesn't turn it into a bunch of short ones. I'm
inclined to think we should go farther than that, and insist on long ones.
I see no great benefit in providing the short ones as alternatives to the
long ones.
