When I tried it on *my* RH5.1 test machine, it compiled fine. Please note that I followed the instructions, to wit:

	make
	make install
	make setup
	make insert
	cd /usr/src/linux
	make dep clean zImage
	make install

instead of trying to take shortcuts (e.g. doing the kernel compile first).

As has been mentioned before, we have a known problem with shortcuts: the library needs to be built *before* the kernel compile is attempted. (And as has also been mentioned before, yes, I consider this a bug and intend to fix it when I find some time to figure out the subtleties of Linux make. Until then, please follow the instructions.)
