Agreed, but from all the responses I got, it's pretty clear that we (US citizens) will not be able to contribute to this project, except perhaps to do some testing. It's quite unfortunate because one of my collegues and I really wanted to dig in and contribute code, add to the "ease of use", etc, and test for interoperability with our hardware devices.
